Festive Breakfast Ideas

Experience the true essence of festive indulgence with our unique Christmas Tree Ham Gruyere Breakfast Pizza. This culinary delight marries the warmth of holiday traditions with a creative twist on breakfast, inviting you into a world where every slice holds the promise of seasonal joy.

Imagine the enchanting ambiance of twinkling lights reflecting off golden-brown crust, and the enticing aroma of savory ham and rich Gruyere cheese filling the air. Let this one-of-a-kind creation be the centerpiece of your festive table, creating lasting memories and a taste experience that resonates with the magic of the season.

This idea is so fun for the whole family and you can let the little ones decorate the breakfast too! It’s also so easy to change it into a kid friendly dish. I hate mushrooms but they don’t have any taste and are not visible in this dish so they just add a really nice depth of flavor to this breakfast idea.

Ingredients

  • 1 Sheet Puff Pastry (Room Temperature)
  • 1/4 cup Diced Mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere Cheese (about 5oz block)
  • 1/2 cup Diced Ham
  • 3 tbsp Sour Cream
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 10-15 Cherry Tomatoes (cut in half length-wise)
  • 1 Egg Well-Beaten
  • Dash of Salt & Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Chives or Dried Chives
  • Sprinkle of Garlic Powder
  • Sprinkle of Onion Powder

How to

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Meanwhile, cook mushrooms in olive oil in a large skillet on the stove until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove skillet from heat and stir in 1/4 cup of cheese, sour cream, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Then, on a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and cut into a tree shape. You’ll be able to use the two triangle pieces from the first tree to create the second tree.
  5. From the leftover puff pastry from the cutouts, cut out two stars using a star cookie cutter and cut out a trunk for the second tree.
  6. Next, use the beaten egg as glue to attach the stars to each tree and the trunk to the second tree.
  7. Then, brush the beaten egg alongside all the edges of the putt pastry and on the star.
  8. Add half of the mushroom cheese sauce to each tree and spread to within 1 inch of the edges.
  9. Top with the rest of the cheese, ham and tomatoes.
  10. Cook in the oven about 8 minutes.
  11. Next, take the pizza out and carefully crack one egg on each pizza. I placed this near the middle so it wouldn’t leak over the edge.
  12. Cook until egg is set. About 12 minutes. If the puff pastry starts getting dark, cover with foil loosely.
  13. Remove from oven and top with chives, garlic & onion powder.

The recipe is so fun and festive for the whole family. Who doesn’t love a personal sized pizza?!

My husband said this is what puff pastry was meant to be like. It’s one of our favorite breakfast ideas in our house!
